If you’ve been on food TikTok in the last three years, you know Buldak Ramen. Samyang’s fire noodle line started as a single terrifying product and has since exploded into a full flavor universe spanning creamy, cheesy, curry, carbonara, and beyond. We got every flavor we could find and spent a weekend eating them all. Here’s the definitive ranking.

S Tier โ€” Genuinely Great

2x Spicy Original (Haek Buldak)

The one that started the fire noodle challenge era, and still the benchmark. The 2x version is not a joke โ€” 10,000 Scoville units of chewy, saucy, intensely savory noodles that will make your eyes water and have you reaching for another forkful anyway. This is the definitive Buldak experience.

Original Buldak

The OG. Perfectly balanced heat (around 4,400 SHU), deeply savory sauce, excellent chew. If you want to introduce someone to the line, start here. Pairs beautifully with a fried egg and green onions.

Carbo Buldak โ€” surprisingly good

Cheese Buldak

The crowd-pleaser. Creamy, cheesy, still has a solid kick. The cheese sauce packet is generous and actually tastes like cheese rather than the vague dairy flavoring you get in most instant noodles. Great gateway flavor.

A Tier โ€” Excellent

Curry Buldak โ€” Slept on. The curry flavor works remarkably well with the signature Buldak heat โ€” the spices layer rather than compete. Earthy and warming with a slow-building burn.

Tomato Pasta Buldak โ€” No, really. Samyang’s tomato pasta flavor shouldn’t work but absolutely does. It tastes like arrabiata pasta โ€” tangy tomato, garlic, chili โ€” and the fire noodle base translates perfectly.

B Tier โ€” Solid

Carbo Buldak (Carbonara) โ€” The pink packet. Creamy, rich, mild heat. More of a comfort food than a challenge noodle. The flavor is legitimately good โ€” it just doesn’t have the edge you want from a Buldak product.

The Challenge Verdict

If you’re doing the full lineup challenge: pace yourself, have milk or yogurt on hand (not water โ€” capsaicin is oil-based), and start with the milder flavors before working up to the 2x. You can find Buldak Ramen at H Mart, most Asian grocery stores, and on Amazon, where variety packs let you try multiple flavors before committing to a full case.
