February 2027 is a month, not a date, so expect Netflix to name the day closer to launch. It’s part of a busy winter; our Winter 2027 anime guide has the rest of the season.

How many episodes is THE ONE PIECE, and what does it cover?

Season 1 has 7 episodes and runs about 300 minutes. Episode 1 is titled “Romance Dawn,” the same name as the manga’s first chapter. The season covers roughly the first 50 chapters, ending with the Baratie arc, where Luffy recruits Sanji. Netflix and WIT Studio say the whole East Blue saga will be adapted, with later episodes to follow.

Who is making it, and who’s in the cast?

  • Studio: WIT Studio (Attack on Titan seasons 1 to 3, Spy x Family, Vinland Saga season 1)
  • Director: Masashi Koizuka, with Hideaki Abe as assistant director
  • Series composition: Taku Kishimoto
  • Character design and chief animation direction: Kyoji Asano and Takatoshi Honda
  • Luffy: Mayumi Tanaka, who has voiced him since the original anime began in 1999

Is it replacing the original One Piece anime?

No. THE ONE PIECE is a separate retelling from the start of the story. Toei Animation’s TV series keeps going, and it has nothing to do with Netflix’s live-action show either. Think of it as a shorter, modern way into the East Blue for people who were scared off by 1,000-plus episodes.

Should you watch the remake or the original?

If you’ve never started One Piece, the remake is the easiest door in: seven episodes with modern animation. If you already love the East Blue, it’s a fun rewatch with a new look. Either way, the manga is the fastest way to stay ahead; our manga pickup guide shows where every big anime leaves off.
