It has 180 cards, nine new Legends led by Seraphine and Evelynn, and three new mechanics: Deploy, Show Off and Disarm. New players should start with the Evelynn vs Seraphine Showdown Decks, but don’t pay more than the $34.99 MSRP. What’s in a Radiance booster pack: 7 commons, 3 uncommons, 1 foil (common to epic), 1 rare or epic, 1 slot that can be a rare, epic, alternate art, special alternate art, Overnumbered or Ultimate Rare card, and 1 token, Rune or alternate-art Rune, for 14 cards in total.

What should you buy first?

  • New to Riftbound: the Evelynn vs Seraphine Showdown Decks give two players a ready-to-play matchup. The first sales on TCGplayer are well above MSRP, so wait for a listing at or under $34.99. If you just want the cheapest start, Vendetta’s Zed vs Shen Showdown Decks are about $16 (see our starter deck guide).
  • Want to open packs: a Booster Display at about $135 to $144 works out to around $6 a pack, much cheaper than single packs.
  • Want a taste plus storage: the Vault Bundle (about $52) gives you six packs, a storage box and 36 Runes.
  • Chasing one specific card: buy the single after release. The rarest cards appear in a tiny fraction of packs.

The chase cards: Overnumbered Legends and the Ultimate Rare

All nine new Legends have an Overnumbered version, a numbered-beyond-the-set variant that sits in the same slot as alternate arts. The Heartsteel Overnumbers show the band in modern fashion looks. K/DA appears in the set’s special cards.

Radiance also has the game’s second Ultimate Rare, which Riot says is rarer than Unleashed’s Baron Nashor. It appears in about 0.025% of booster packs, roughly 1 in 4,000, with at most one per pack. There are no real sale prices yet. We’ll add the most expensive Radiance cards after release.

New mechanics: Deploy, Show Off and Disarm

  • Deploy: Gear that you play directly onto a Battlefield. It helps you while it’s there, but it’s destroyed when an opponent holds that Battlefield.
  • Show Off: reveal a qualifying card from your hand or board to unlock an extra effect on the card you played.
  • Disarm: reduces an enemy unit’s Might as you attack, and each instance stacks.
  • Equipment Units: with Orianna’s Legend, Equipment can become a Unit, and it’s automatically unequipped when that happens.
  • Bomb tokens: the more Bombs you play, the bigger the eventual effect.
