Short answer: Riftbound Radiance Pre-Rift events start Friday, October 16, 2026 and run through October 22 at participating local game stores, a week before the October 23 release. Each player gets five Radiance booster packs, a champion pack built around one of the nine new Legends, and a Heimerdinger, Academy Instructor promo. You build a Sealed deck of at least 25 cards on the spot, and you keep everything you open.

What’s in a Radiance Pre-Rift kit?

  • 5 Radiance booster packs
  • 1 champion pack for one of the nine new Legends, with that Legend, a rare Champion unit, a Battlefield and support cards for that Champion
  • 1 Heimerdinger, Academy Instructor promo card

The Heimerdinger promo can’t go in your Sealed deck, but a regular Heimerdinger that you open in a booster is legal. The store provides Runes and tokens, and everything you open is yours to keep.

Each Radiance booster has 14 cards, and one slot can hold an alternate art, an Overnumbered Legend or the set’s Ultimate Rare. Our Radiance release guide breaks down the full pack.

Sealed deckbuilding rules for Pre-Rift

  • A Main Deck of at least 25 cards. You can play more.
  • Up to three domains for your cards and Runes. A Signature spell is allowed if both of its domains are among your three.
  • Your Legend is optional. If you play one, both of its domains must be among your three. If you skip your Legend or your Champion unit, you draw an extra card on your first turn.
  • Any Champion unit can be your Chosen Champion, whatever Legend you play.
  • No copy limit. You can play as many copies of a card as you open, even past the usual three.
  • Runes and tokens are supplied. You aren’t limited to the ones in your packs.
  • Battlefields: use the ones you open, or a face-down card as a blank Battlefield with no abilities.
  • You can change your deck between games and rounds, as long as it still follows these rules.

How to build a good Pre-Rift deck

Riot’s own advice for Radiance Sealed comes down to five things:

  • Play plenty of Units. Aim for at least 15, because Units are how you score points.
  • Build a curve. Include about five Units that cost 2 Energy for your first turns, then a spread of more expensive ones.
  • Add support. Gear and spells that give Might make your Units better, and a few removal spells let you deal with your opponent’s best Units.
  • Watch Power costs. Cards with Power costs are stronger, but too many means recycling a lot of Runes. Build your Rune Deck around the Power costs you actually play.
  • Start with your champion pack. Its Legend, Champion and Battlefield are designed to work together.

The nine Radiance Legends at a glance

LegendGame plan
EkkoPlan ahead and use his Legend to play powerful Units earlier than normal.
EvelynnHidden cards and traps that punish your opponent.
Jarvan IVDeploy Gear to Battlefields, then move Units straight into the fight.
K’SanteTough defensive Units that turn their Shield into Assault on offense.
MordekaiserBanish your own Gear and Units to play more of them for less.
OriannaTurn Gear into Units, including Deployed Gear at a surprising moment.
RivenUnits you play to Battlefields you control enter ready, for fast early pressure.
SeraphineGo wide with cheap Units, then exhaust them to cast big spells.
ZiggsBoard control with Bomb tokens that make Battlefields too dangerous to hold.

Sealed depends on what you open, so treat these as starting points rather than a tier list.

Radiance mechanics to know before you play

  • Deploy: Gear that you play directly onto a Battlefield. It helps you while it’s there, but it’s destroyed when an opponent holds that Battlefield.
  • Show Off: reveal a qualifying card from your hand or board to unlock an extra effect on the card you played.
  • Disarm: lowers an enemy Unit’s Might as you attack, and multiple instances stack.

Early rulings for Pre-Rift

  • K’Sante’s Legend works with combat tricks. On a Unit with Shield 2 and Assault 2, his Legend gives it Assault 4 that turn, and any extra Shield you add raises it further.
  • Neeko, Blending In has an errata. She now reads “choose up to 3 different Legends,” so you can play her in Sealed even if you didn’t open three Legends.

Neeko is also one of the first Radiance cards with real money behind it: early TCGplayer listings were around $40 on October 16, though only a few copies were listed.

What to bring to a Pre-Rift

  • Sleeves and a deck box if you want to protect what you open. See our deck box guide.
  • Something to track points. Many stores keep extras, but it’s easier to bring your own.
  • Toploaders or a binder for big pulls. Overnumbered Legends and the Ultimate Rare can appear in Pre-Rift boosters, since they’re regular Radiance packs.

What to buy after Pre-Rift

If you liked the set, a Booster Display (24 packs) was about $144 on TCGplayer on October 16, with listings from $135, or around $6 a pack. The Vault Bundle (six packs, a storage box and 36 Runes) was about $50. The Evelynn vs Seraphine Showdown Decks have a $34.99 MSRP; listings start near $24, but recent sales averaged about $58, so don’t overpay.

Chasing one specific card? Buy the single after release. We’ll publish the most expensive Radiance cards once real sales come in after October 23.

What to skip

  • Paying over MSRP for the Showdown Decks. Listings under $34.99 already exist.
  • Single booster packs online when a Booster Display works out cheaper per pack.
  • Judging card values on day one. Early Radiance prices come from a handful of listings and can move a lot after release.
