The biggest tournament of the year is part of the show. It’s invitation-only, and the formats are Star Trek booster draft and Standard, which makes it the first major event played with the new set, on its release weekend.

  • Friday and Saturday: three draft rounds, then four Standard rounds each day, starting at 9 AM. Players need 12 match points after round 7 to make day two.
  • Sunday: the Top 8 plays single-elimination, starting at 9 AM, with the final wrapping up around 5 PM.
  • Prize pool: $1,000,000. The winner gets $100,000, second place $50,000, third and fourth $25,000 each, and fifth through eighth $20,000 each. Every player gets at least $4,000.

Wizards hasn’t announced the broadcast times yet; coverage normally runs on Magic’s official Twitch and YouTube channels. If you’re drafting Star Trek at home that weekend, our Star Trek draft guide covers the archetypes, and our Star Trek chase cards page tracks what the big pulls are worth.

What else is happening?

  • Previews: Wizards promises sneak previews of 2027 sets and beyond, so expect reveals from the stage.
  • Mana Stage: Game Knights Live and the Cosplay Contest Grand Championship are confirmed. The rest of the stage schedule hasn’t been posted yet.
  • On the show floor: free play and the Command Zone, the Art of Magic area, a scavenger hunt, Family Magic, and Creator Central for meeting Magic content creators.
  • Play events: the play hall stays open until midnight Friday and Saturday. Mana Stage seats and most meet-and-greets are first come, first served.

Planning around releases? Our MTG 2026 release schedule lists every set still to come, and we’ll add the MagicCon reveals as soon as they’re announced.
