Verdict: Bandai has banned the Dracule Mihawk leader OP14-020, including its alt art, in One Piece Card Game tournaments starting October 12, 2026. If it’s your main deck, find a new leader before then. If you own the alt art, expect it to keep losing value: it’s already down about 65% since early September.

Who this is for: Mihawk players with a regional or store event coming up, and collectors deciding whether to sell or keep their Mihawk cards.
Why was Mihawk OP14-020 banned?

OP14-020 Dracule Mihawk. Card image: Bandai.
Bandai’s official reason has two parts. First, as more booster sets came out, combos with this leader got stronger than the design team planned. Second, the card “significantly restricts the viability” of every Slash leader, and Bandai says that includes leaders it hasn’t released yet.
The second reason is right in the card text. OP14-020 is a green leader with 5 life and 5000 power, and it gains +1000 power whenever the opposing leader has the Slash attribute. Against a Slash leader it’s effectively a 6000-power leader all game, so every Slash deck needs an extra 1000 power on each attack just to break even.
Its other ability is the engine. Once per turn, you rest 1 of your cards. If you control a Character that costs 5 or more, up to 3 of your DON!! become active again, though you can’t play Characters for the rest of that turn. That’s up to 3 extra DON!! to spend on Events, effects and attacks every turn once a big body is on the board.
Bandai didn’t name the specific combos. Its notice says it weighs win rate, major tournament results, usage rate, future impact and whether a card squeezes out other leaders. It usually updates the list twice a year but can add a card at any time when it thinks one is hurting the game.
What does the new P-163 Mihawk do?

Old OP14-020 vs. new P-163. Card images: Bandai.
P-163 is a much weaker Mihawk leader that Bandai will hand out at future events. It keeps the 5 life and 5000 power but drops the Slash bonus. Its once-per-turn ability now gives up to 3 rested DON!! to the leader instead of setting 3 DON!! active.
| OP14-020 (banned) | P-163 (replacement) | |
|---|---|---|
| Life / power | 5 / 5000 | 5 / 5000 |
| Vs. Slash leaders | +1000 power | No bonus |
| Once per turn (rest 1 card, need a 5+ cost Character) | Set up to 3 DON!! active, then no Characters that turn | Give up to 3 rested DON!! to this leader |
| How you get it | OP14 boosters | Future events, not for sale |
In practice, the old card gave you up to 3 extra DON!! to spend. The new one only makes your leader hit harder that turn, since each DON!! attached gives +1000 power during your turn. It’s a decent attacker, not a resource engine. As of October 6, Bandai hasn’t said which events will give out P-163.
How much did Mihawk cards drop after the ban?

Alt-art OP14-020. TCGplayer Near Mint market price, Oct. 6, 2026. Card image: Bandai.
The alt-art leader lost about 65%, the PSA Magazine promo about 40%, and the base leader barely moved. Sales began slipping a few days before the September 24 notice, then fell hardest the week after it.
| OP14-020 version | Early Sept. | Oct. 6 |
|---|---|---|
| Alternate Art 319 sales in 3 months | about $67 | $23.65 (sold $19.09 to $23, Oct. 3 to 5) |
| 2026 PSA Magazine Promo 292 sales | about $102 | $60.33 (sold $53.69 to $59.25, Oct. 3 to 5) |
| Regular leader | $0.22 | $0.23 |
The promo is holding better because it’s a magazine exclusive that people buy to collect, not just to play. The alt art was mostly priced as the competitive copy of a top deck, so the ban hit that demand directly.
Should you sell or keep your Mihawk leader?
If you bought it to play, sell before October 12. Once the ban is live, the only buyers left are collectors, and there are fewer of them. If you collect Mihawk, keep it or buy the dip, but don’t count on a rebound. Bandai says banned cards can come back when the format changes, but it hasn’t promised anything for this one.
Which Mihawk cards are still legal?

OP14-119 and OP12-030 stay legal. Card images: Bandai.
Every Mihawk Character card is still legal. The ban names only the leader OP14-020 and its parallels.
- OP14-119 Dracule Mihawk (Secret Rare): a 9-cost, 10000-power Character. Its manga version is the priciest Mihawk at a $715.72 market price, about where it was in mid-September. The alt art slid from $26.09 in mid-September to $19.85, and the regular secret rare is $1.82.
- OP12-030 Dracule Mihawk: an 8-cost Blocker that sets up to 4 DON!! active when played. Its SP version holds steady at $140.26.
Green players can still run both. You just need a different leader.
