With hundreds of sales each, these prices are far more reliable than anything from presale. Seasoned Cryomancer is the only one that went up after release. The rest fell from their first sales, with Emrakul and Hexhaven Invigorator dropping the most.

1. The Theorist, Jace Beleren: $34.22

The Theorist, Jace Beleren mythic rare card from MTG Reality Fracture
The Theorist, Jace Beleren · Mythic

A four-mana planeswalker that draws you a card on every opponent’s turn. It starts at 3 loyalty. Its static ability draws a card at the beginning of each opponent’s draw step, its +1 makes a 1/1 Illusion, its −2 bounces up to one artifact or creature per opponent, and its −6 draws three cards and pumps your creatures. In a four-player Commander game, that static ability alone is three extra cards a round.

Its priciest version is the fracture foil Japan Showcase, which has sold for $590. See the Reality Fracture chase cards for every top version.

2. Hexhaven Invigorator: $29.71

Hexhaven Invigorator · Mythic

A 6/6 vigilance creature for four green mana that ramps whenever it’s dealt damage. Each time it takes damage, you can search for that many land cards and put them onto the battlefield tapped. Its facet foil has five sales, the latest at $524.98.

3. Emrakul, the Exigent Doom: $22.53

Emrakul, the Exigent Doom · Mythic

A 10-mana 12/12 with flying and trample that untaps all your lands when you cast it. Its ward cost is sacrificing three permanents. For {3} you can also exile it from your hand so one of your lands taps for two colorless mana, then cast it from exile later. It fell from about $100 in early sales, the biggest drop on this list.

4. Darklight Phoenix: $16.36

A four-mana 3/2 with flying and haste that keeps coming back. At the beginning of combat on your turn, if two or more creatures died that turn, it returns from your graveyard to the battlefield. Its price has barely moved since its first sales, and its facet foil sold for $650.24 on October 2.

5. Seasoned Cryomancer: $10.26

The only mythic here that went up. It’s a three-mana 2/2 that draws two and discards two when it enters, then taps up to one creature for each nonland card you discarded and puts a stun counter on each. Later, you can exile it from your graveyard for {3}{U}{U} to draw two cards. Its first sales on September 24 were about $1.

What happened to our September picks?

Most of them crashed. We first published this list on September 18, using presale prices. Here’s how those five look now:

CardSept. 18 (presale)Oct. 3
Omnipresenceabout $59$4.99
Garruk, Veiled Butcherabout $50$2.31
Ingris Stingerquillabout $38$8.96
Overwrite the Multiverseabout $37$2.28
Loyal Tutor (a rare, not a mythic)about $40 for the foil$2.44 regular

Presale prices are bids on cards nobody has opened yet. Once real packs hit tables, supply caught up and most of these fell 75% or more. We’re keeping the comparison up so you can see how far presale prices can be from where a set settles.

Should you buy these as singles or open packs?

Singles, if you want these specific cards. All five together cost about $113 at today’s prices. That’s less than a Play Booster box (about $139.26), and a box only averages about 4 to 5 regular mythics of any kind, mostly not these five. A Play Booster’s rare slot is a regular mythic 14.8% of the time, about 1 in 7 packs. Our Reality Fracture pull rates guide has the full odds.
