1. Jace, Multiverse Architect
What it does: A four-color planeswalker (white, blue, black and red) that can be your commander. His +1 draws two cards and puts one on the bottom. His −3 exiles one of your creatures or planeswalkers and replaces it with the next creature or planeswalker in your library. Opponents also have to pay {2} each combat, or their creatures can’t attack your Jaces.
Why it’s popular: The face of Multiverse Reforged, the Reality Fracture Commander deck, and the most-built commander on all of EDHREC this month, with 11,616 new decks. 2. Tam, the Possibility
What it does: Planeswalker spells you cast cost {1} less. For {W}{U}{B}{R}{G} and a tap, proliferate X times, where X is the number of different planeswalker types you control.
Why it’s popular: A five-color planeswalker commander that costs only three mana. Cheap planeswalkers come down a turn early, and with several types out, one activation adds loyalty to all of them again and again. She’s the #1 five-color commander this month, ahead of The Ur-Dragon.

3. Vraska, Soul of Stone
What it does: Artifact creatures you control have vigilance. Whenever you cast a noncreature spell, create a 1/1 Sculpture artifact creature token that can be sacrificed for one mana of any color, like a Treasure.
Why it’s popular: A spells deck where every noncreature spell also makes a creature that doubles as mana. It’s the second most-built commander from the main set, behind Tam, and leads our top 5 Jeskai commanders.

4. The Ur-Sphinx
What it does: A nine-mana 10/10 flier. While it’s on the battlefield or in the command zone, your other Sphinx spells cost {1} less. Whenever one or more Sphinxes you control attack, each player mills that many cards, and you may cast one card milled from each player for free.
Why it’s popular: A Sphinx deck from the Multiverse Reforged precon, where it’s one of the cards Jace players cut most often. As its own commander, it’s the second most-built Esper commander this month; see our top 5 Esper commanders for the card and three cards to build around.

5. Ingris Stingerquill
What it does: Flying. Whenever a creature you control attacks, that creature deals 1 damage to each opponent. For {4}, create a 2/2 Cadet token, then your creatures gain haste until end of turn.
Why it’s popular: A Rakdos go-wide attack deck. Every attacker pings the whole table, and the {4} ability turns spare mana into hasty Cadets. It’s the #1 Rakdos commander this month and the priciest of the top 10.

6. Aerid Konstrari
What it does: Flying. When Aerid enters or dies, create a Heartwood token, an artifact that taps for {R} or {G}. For {6}, create another Heartwood, and Aerid gets +X/+0 until end of turn, where X is the number of artifacts you control.
Why it’s popular: A Gruul ramp deck that leans on artifacts. Every Heartwood is more mana and more power for Aerid, so the deck builds toward one huge flying hit. It’s the #1 Gruul commander this month.

7. Kwia Vigorbloom
What it does: Flying, vigilance, lifelink, ward {2}. Whenever you gain life, create a Lotus, an artifact you can sacrifice for three mana of one color. This triggers only once each turn.
Why it’s popular: A Selesnya lifegain deck that turns life into mana. Kwia’s own lifelink makes a Lotus on any turn it deals damage, and the deck’s other lifegain cards make sure you get one every turn. It’s the #1 Selesnya commander this month.

8. Denzilore Fatehold
What it does: Flash, flying. Whenever you scry or surveil, put a +1/+1 counter on each creature you control.
Why it’s popular: An Azorius deck full of scry and surveil cards. Every look at the top of your library grows your whole team, and flash lets you hold mana up for counterspells. It’s the #1 Azorius commander this month.

9. Niv-Mizzet, Ghost Counsel
What it does: A six-mana 4/4 flier in white and black. Whenever you gain life, you may pay that much life to draw that many cards. Tap: each opponent loses 1 life and you gain 1.
Why it’s popular: An Orzhov lifegain deck that turns life into cards. It comes in the Multiverse Reforged precon and is the #1 Orzhov commander this month, even though most Jace players cut it.

10. Dack Fayden, Helping Hand
What it does: When Dack enters, reveal cards from the top of your library until you reveal one creature card per opponent. Put them onto the battlefield goaded for the rest of the game, then give one to each opponent.
Why it’s popular: A mono-white chaos deck. You hand each opponent a creature that has to attack someone other than you every turn, so the table fights itself. It’s the #2 mono-white commander this month, behind Giada.

Other Reality Fracture commanders worth a look
- Codie, Ravenous Codex (4,088 decks, about $0.22): a three-mana artifact Book that copies every prepared spell you cast. It’s the third most-built five-color commander this month.
- Nissa, Leyline Tamer (3,591 decks, about $1.01): the other commander in the Multiverse Reforged deck. Every land you play draws a card, and the first one each turn also puts a creature from your library onto the battlefield.
- Avacyn, Angel of Horror (3,184 decks, about $13.49): an eight-mana 8/8 flying, deathtouch Angel that brings back each of your nontoken creatures at the next end step when it dies.
- Uldaros Theorix (1,301 decks, about $3.46): the fifth Elder Sphinx, in blue and black. When you cast it, it copies one card of each type from your graveyard and lets you cast up to 6 mana value of them for free.
- Karn, Gilded Guardian (1,468 decks, about $0.35): a five-color artifact Golem that draws a card for each color among your other artifacts when it enters.
Is Reality Fracture a good set for Commander?
Yes. The main set has 75 different legendary creatures, and the Commander deck adds 14 more cards that can lead a deck. Three weeks after release, Reality Fracture cards are the #1 commander in 8 of the 32 color identities, which you can see in our best commander for every color combination guide. The five Elder Sphinx mythics, one for each allied color pair, are the standouts from the main set.
