1. Phantom Blade Zero is out, and the sword fighting lives up to the hype
S-Game’s kung fu action RPG launched October 29 on PS5 and PC at $59.99 after years of trailers. Reviews landed at 88 on Metacritic and about 91 on OpenCritic, with IGN calling the combat a standout. Eurogamer was the lone cold take at 60 on Metacritic, and several critics mention a muddled story and some frame rate dips.

Why it matters: Most big action games that arrive after this long a wait stumble, and this one mostly didn’t. If you buy these games for the fights, the critics say you’re covered. We pulled the scores, the praise and the complaints into one place in our Phantom Blade Zero reviews roundup. (Sources: Beebom, The Loadout)
2. The final Dune: Part Three trailer is here
On October 27, Warner Bros. Pictures, Legendary and IMAX released the final trailer and a new poster for Denis Villeneuve’s third Dune film. The cast list is stacked: Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Florence Pugh, Anya Taylor-Joy, Jason Momoa, Javier Bardem, Rebecca Ferguson and Robert Pattinson. The trailer sets Pattinson’s Scytale and Zendaya’s Chani on a collision course with Paul Atreides. It opens December 18 in the US.

Why it matters: December 18 is also the day Avengers: Doomsday opens, so the two biggest sci-fi movies of the year are fighting for the same weekend and the same IMAX screens. Start with our Dune: Part Three release date, cast and trailer guide, and see our Avengers: Doomsday guide for the other side of that matchup. (Sources: Dark Horizons, The A.V. Club)
3. Magic shows all four Star Trek Commander decks
On October 29, Wizards of the Coast revealed the full Star Trek Commander lineup: Federation Fleet (Picard), Landing Party (Spock), Klingon Fury (Worf) and We Are the Borg (the Borg Queen). Each deck has 32 new-to-Magic cards and a foil borderless commander, and each has an alternate commander too: Janeway, Kirk, Kor and Locutus of Borg. All four arrive November 13, with preorders open now.

Why it matters: With every list out, you can finally pick a deck on the cards instead of the box art. We already wrote upgrade guides for each one: Federation Fleet, Landing Party, Klingon Fury and We Are the Borg. For a quick pick, see the all-4-precons buying guide. 4. One Piece EB-05 lands, and a Nico Robin Leader tops $1,000
Heroines Edition Vol. 2 (EB-05) came out in English on October 30 at $4.99 a pack. The set has 75 cards plus two DON!! cards, including a new Nico Robin Leader, six SP card types and an alternate art card illustrated by Kentaro Yabuki. On release night the manga-style Robin Leader was selling for around $1,030 on TCGplayer and the booster box for about $253. Prices were already sliding, so expect the same early dip we saw with other chase-heavy sets.

Why it matters: If you only want one card, buying the single usually beats cracking a box for it. Our EB-05 chase cards list has the top 10 with prices, and the EB-05 release guide covers what’s in the set. (Sources: Hot Drop Stock, Samurai Sword Tokyo)
5. Pokémon Delta Reign is one week out
Mega Evolution: Delta Reign releases November 6, with more than 135 cards, Mega Rayquaza ex leading the way and over 35 special illustration cards. Mega Golurk ex, Mega Malamar ex and Mega Golisopod ex are the other headliners. Prerelease events have been running since October 24 and finish November 1.

Why it matters: The Mega Rayquaza ex cards are the ones everyone will be chasing, so now is the time to decide what to buy before launch-week prices settle. Our Delta Reign pull rates show the odds, and Best Delta Reign Cards to Play ranks the ten cards doing the most in Japan’s tournaments. (Sources: Pokémon.com, PokeBeach)
