May 2026 is genuinely stacked. Whether you’re heading to the theater, grinding your console, camping Pokémon GO stops, or just trying to figure out what to put on — we’ve got you covered. Here’s the full NerdSnack breakdown of what to Watch, Play, and Eat this month.
What to Watch
Mortal Kombat II — In Theaters Now

The wait is over. Mortal Kombat II puts Johnny Cage (Karl Urban) front and center as Earth’s champions face the real Outworld tournament — and this time the stakes are absolute. The first film was setup. This is payoff. Karl Urban is built for this role, and the full cast returning alongside new additions makes this one of the most anticipated sequels of the year. If you haven’t gone yet, make it this weekend.
The Mandalorian & Grogu — May 22, Theaters

Din Djarin and Grogu make the jump from Disney+ to the big screen on May 22 — and Lucasfilm is treating this like the full Star Wars theatrical event it deserves to be. Pedro Pascal is back, Grogu is somehow even more powerful than when we last saw him, and the story reportedly expands into the New Republic era in a meaningful way. This is the Star Wars film fans have been waiting for since The Rise of Skywalker left questions on the table.
Devil May Cry Season 2 — May 12, Netflix

Season 1 of the Netflix DMC anime was slept on by a lot of people — and those people are now missing out on Season 2, which brings Vergil into the picture in a serious way. The Dante vs. Vergil rivalry is the emotional core of the entire Devil May Cry franchise, and seeing it adapted in anime form drops May 12. If you’re into stylish action animation, this is essential viewing this month.
Spider-Noir — May 27, Prime Video

Nicolas Cage’s animated Spider-Noir from Into the Spider-Verse gets his own live-action series — set in 1930s New York, drenched in noir atmosphere, and completely unlike anything else in the superhero space. Cage plays an older Peter Parker working private detective cases in a crime-riddled city. Think Raymond Chandler meets Spider-Man, with none of the usual Marvel color palette. Spider-Noir drops May 27 on Prime Video and might just be the most interesting superhero project of the year.
What to Play
007: First Light — May 27, PS5 / Xbox Series / PC

IO Interactive — the studio behind the modern Hitman trilogy — is now making a James Bond origin story, and it looks like exactly what you’d hope for. 007: First Light follows a young Bond before he earned his 00 status, navigating his first real espionage mission. Expect the same level of systemic design and creative problem-solving IO perfected with Hitman, wrapped in a spy-thriller presentation that’s hard to match. Launches May 27.
Pokemon GO — Two Big Events This Month

Pokemon GO trainers are eating well in May. Lechonk Community Day is May 9 — the food-obsessed pig Pokemon gets boosted spawns, exclusive moves, and the full Community Day treatment. Then on May 16, the Deino Community Day Classic brings back one of the most wanted dragons in the game with cranked-up shiny rates. If you’ve been trying to build a Hydreigon, this is your window.
What to Eat
This is NerdSnack. We’re not letting you survive May without pairing recommendations. Here’s what to eat alongside everything dropping this month.
For Mortal Kombat II: Buldak Spicy Ramen

Scorpion is dragging people into hellfire. You need heat. The Buldak lineup runs from the Original (4,404 SHU) all the way up to the 2x Spicy (10,000 SHU) and beyond. Pick your difficulty level and watch Outworld burn. If you want to go full 3x Nuclear, that’s a personal decision — we respect it.
For The Mandalorian & Grogu: Matcha
Grogu is small, green, and unnervingly powerful. Matcha is small, green, and unnervingly energizing. Grab a matcha latte before the showing, pack some matcha Kit Kats, or blend a matcha smoothie for the home watch later in the month. This is the way.
For Devil May Cry Season 2: Pepperoni Pizza
Dante is Italian. Dante loves pizza. The DMC anime almost certainly has Dante eating pizza in at least one scene in Season 2 — it is practically a franchise law at this point. Match the energy. Get a proper pepperoni slice, settle in, and watch two half-demon brothers argue about who’s stronger.
For 007: First Light: Sparkling Water with Lime
Bond may not have his martini yet in this origin story, but you can. Or go the non-alcoholic route — sparkling water, squeeze of lime, served in an actual glass. Not a plastic cup. Have some standards. Shaken, not stirred. You know the drill.
For Pokemon GO Community Days: Strawberry Daifuku
Lechonk is pink, round, food-obsessed, and entirely good energy. Strawberry daifuku — mochi stuffed with strawberry and red bean paste — is also pink, round, and entirely good energy. Pick some up from your nearest Asian grocery before Community Day. You will perform measurably better. This is not a guarantee but it absolutely is.
That’s your May 2026 sorted. Two theatrical events, two streaming drops, one of the most anticipated games in years, and a full Pokémon GO calendar — plus snacks to match all of it. Check back next month for the June edition.
