Special Card Treatments to Chase

The Hobbit goes deep on collector treatments. Gleaming Gold is an ultra-rare, Collector Booster-exclusive headliner treatment reserved for a single card in the set — Smaug, the Magnificent — with roughly 500 English-language copies in existence. Dragon Hoard Frame wraps select rares and mythics (25 cards total) in an ornate frame themed around Smaug’s treasure pile, available in non-foil, traditional foil, and Collector Booster-exclusive surge foil. Book Cover cards restyle 10 key rares and mythics — including The Arkenstone — as vintage pulp-fantasy paperback covers, also available up to a surge foil tier. Dwarvish Language Cards

The fifth collector treatment worth planning around: five mythic rares get printed entirely in Khuzdul, the Dwarvish language J.R.R. Tolkien constructed for his novels, in the same spirit as the Elvish and Black Speech language cards from Tales of Middle-earth. Confirmed so far: Arcane Signet, Mox Amber, and The Reaver Cleaver, each with new Dwarvish-flavored alternate art alongside the runic script. They’re Collector Booster exclusives — non-foil and traditional foil only, no surge foil tier, and no Play Booster copies at all.

Commander Potential

Thorin, Mountain-King is the Commander of the set — Dwarf tribal has needed a dedicated commander for years and Thorin delivers real payoff. Bilbo, Luckwearer slots into Party-style builds that reward playing small creatures for incremental value. Smaug, the Magnificent is a Treasure-focused bomb that plugs into existing Dragon and Treasure Commander decks even outside dedicated Hobbit builds.
