The most valuable card you can pull from Mystery Booster Commander Edition right now is a traditional foil Olinda the Oblivious, at a $245 market price on TCGplayer. Foil Lyna, Veil of Vengeance ($229.99) and foil Ekthi, Contaminator Priest ($191.66) come next, and Ekthi is also the best regular pull at $48.74. Our verdict: buy the commander you want as a single and open packs to draft, not to profit. Half of the 60 new commanders sell for $13.35 or less, while one pack costs $20.68.

What are the most valuable Mystery Booster Commander cards?

We ranked every card by its most expensive version you can pull from a pack. For nine of the top ten, that’s the traditional foil of a new commander. The tenth is an acorn foil.
| # | Card (version) | Top price | Regular |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Olinda the Oblivious foil | $245.00 | $18.17 |
| 2 | Lyna, Veil of Vengeance foil | $229.99 | $19.97 |
| 3 | Ekthi, Contaminator Priest foil | $191.66 | $48.74 |
| 4 | Greensleeves foil | $179.99 | $25.14 |
| 5 | Davvol, Evincar of Rath foil | $159.99 | $7.74 |
| 6 | Arzakon foil | $150.00 | $42.10 |
| 7 | Itazura, Lingering Wick foil | $149.97 | $21.76 |
| 8 | Oracle of the Alpha acorn foil | $149.69 | foil only |
| 9 | Homer, the Hermit foil | $143.46 | $32.55 |
| 10 | Selenia, the Cursed Heart foil | $139.97 | $40.38 |

Treat the foil numbers as rough. Each of these foils has only a handful of copies for sale (two to eight), so one sale can move the price a lot. The cheapest foil Olinda listed on October 30 was $200, and the cheapest foil Lyna was $188.99.
Olinda is a funny one to lead. Her regular copy is only $18.17. Our guess is the art does the work: a skunk rogue painted by Justin Gerard is exactly the kind of card people want shiny.
How rare is a foil new commander?

Every pack has one new-to-Magic commander. Wizards says it’s a traditional foil 4.75% of the time, so you’ll see a foil commander in about 1 pack in 21, or a little over one per 24-pack box.
Wizards doesn’t publish odds for each card. If all 60 new commanders are equally common, one specific foil (say, Olinda) turns up in about 1 pack in 1,263. That’s roughly a 2% chance per box. We wouldn’t open a box chasing one name.
Davvol is the clearest sign that foil prices follow looks and scarcity, not playability. The regular copy is $7.74, and the foil sells for about 20 times that.
What’s the best regular pull?

Most packs won’t hold a foil, so here’s what matters more often: the regular (non-foil) new commanders. These are the ten worth the most.
| # | Card | Market | Cheapest |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Ekthi, Contaminator Priest | $48.74 | $45.70 |
| 2 | Arzakon | $42.10 | $36.25 |
| 3 | Selenia, the Cursed Heart | $40.38 | $38.00 |
| 4 | Seluma, Light of Aysen | $35.23 | $33.27 |
| 5 | Meatsqueak, Hoard Lord | $35.05 | $33.80 |
| 6 | Homer, the Hermit | $32.55 | $29.99 |
| 7 | Uugguu, the Omniplasm | $27.14 | $24.00 |
| 8 | The Unluckiest Planeswalker | $26.63 | $19.00 |
| 9 | Tsagan, Raider Warlord | $26.24 | $21.77 |
| 10 | Chief Magistrate of Mercadia | $25.68 | $7.00 |
Ekthi makes sense at the top. It turns every Equipment you play into a living weapon and pumps your other Phyrexians, which is a real engine for an Equipment deck. Arzakon is a five-color planeswalker commander that can make a Black Lotus token, and Selenia doubles your life gain and curses an opponent when she dies.
Check the cheapest-listing column before you buy. Chief Magistrate of Mercadia has a $25.68 market price, but copies were listed from $7.00. The market number just hasn’t caught up.
What are the acorn cards worth?

The 10 acorn-stamped cards are the true lottery tickets. They come only in traditional foil, they started on MTG Arena as Alchemy cards, and they aren’t legal in any Constructed format. Five of them form a cycle: Ruby, Sapphire, Jet, Pearl and Emerald Collector each conjure their matching Mox. Oracle of the Alpha conjures the whole Power Nine.
Wizards only says an acorn card shows up in “less than 1%” of packs. The other odds for that slot add up to 99.7%, which hints the real rate is closer to 0.3%. If so, that’s about one acorn card per 14 boxes.
There’s almost no sales history yet, so these are asking prices on October 30, not values:
- Ruby Collector: one copy listed at $999.95
- Pearl Collector: five listed, from $399.99
- Sapphire Collector and Perforator Crocodile: one each at $250
- Emerald Collector: three listed at $248
- Case of the Lost Witness: six listed, from $180
- Euru, Acorn Scrounger: six listed, from $131.46
- Overcooked: $75 market, one listed at $149.99
- Oracle of the Alpha ($149.69 market) and Jet Collector: none listed
Are the Future Sight frame cards worth money?

One slot in every pack is a Future Sight frame card, the “future” frame from 2007, or rarely an acorn card. There are 134 of them, but only 10 are listed as MBC cards on TCGplayer and Scryfall so far. They are mostly Commander mana staples, and the regular copies are cheap: Thought Vessel $12.19, Path of Ancestry $11.73, Fellwar Stone $10.75, Dust to Dust $9.15, Swiftfoot Boots $8.00, Exotic Orchard $7.00 and Chaos Warp $0.96.
Chromatic Lantern shows an $18.12 market price, but copies were listed from $5.90, so trust the listing. The foils are where the money is. Foil Exotic Orchard has a $120 market price, and the few foil Jeweled Amulet, Chromatic Lantern and Swiftfoot Boots copies are listed at $179.95 to $298.25.
Do the Planeswalker-stamped reprints matter?

Barely. Wizards’ list has 2,022 Planeswalker-stamped reprints by our count: 358 commons and uncommons per color, 111 wildcards and 121 reprinted commanders. TCGplayer files them under “The List Reprints,” and the best ones are modest:
- Greymond, Avacyn’s Stalwart (SLX printing): $37.24
- Sakashima of a Thousand Faces: $23.75
- Thassa, Deep-Dwelling: $23.00
- Rev, Tithe Extractor (anime art): $20.91
- Elesh Norn, Mother of Machines: $20.89
- Bria, Riptide Rogue: $20.72
- Battle Angels of Tyr: $20.25
Big names don’t help much either: Kokusho, the Evening Star is $16.00, Akroma’s Will $14.88, Sheoldred, Whispering One $11.73, Clown Car $9.00, Six $3.45 and The Scarab God $2.00. These are fun to open for a draft deck, and they won’t pay for the pack.
Should you open packs or buy singles?

Buy singles if you want a specific commander. Open packs if you want to draft. Here’s the math that decides it:
| What | Price (Oct 30) |
|---|---|
| Booster box (24 packs) | $365.05 ($15.21 a pack) |
| Single pack | $20.68 |
| Festival in a Box: Atlanta 2026 | $379.79 |
| Average new commander (regular) | $15.96 |
| Median new commander (regular) | $13.35 |
Each pack’s guaranteed new commander averages $15.96, but the median is $13.35, and six of the 60 sell for under $5. Only 18 are worth $20 or more. So a single pack at $20.68 usually hands you a commander worth less than you paid. The other 19 cards (15 commons and uncommons, a wildcard, a reprinted commander, a Future Sight frame card and a playtest card) rarely close the gap, judging by the reprint prices above.
Opening a box for a draft night is different. At $15.21 a pack, eight players get three packs each, a full Commander Draft, and the foils are a bonus. If that’s your plan, our Commander Draft guide for this set walks through the rules and the pick-two format.
What to skip
- Paying asking prices for foils and acorns right now. Most have two to eight copies listed and almost no sales. More boxes get opened at MagicCon: Atlanta (November 13 to 15) and at MagicCons through 2027.
- Buying at “market price” without checking listings. Chief Magistrate of Mercadia ($25.68 market, from $7.00) and Chromatic Lantern ($18.12 market, from $5.90) show how far the two can drift this early.
- Opening single packs for value. Half of the new commanders are worth less than $13.35.
- Expecting the Festival in a Box extras in packs. The Secret Gallery foils and the four promos only come in that bundle.
