There are 20 novels set in Percy Jackson’s world as of November 2026, spread across five series, plus optional companion books. Here’s every one in order, the order we’d read them in, and which books the Disney+ show covers.

Start with the five original Percy Jackson and the Olympians books, from The Lightning Thief (2005) to The Last Olympian (2009). Then read The Heroes of Olympus (2010 to 2014), The Trials of Apollo (2016 to 2020), Percy’s two senior-year books (2023 and 2024) and the two Nico di Angelo books (2023 and 2025). The newest is The Wild Zone (September 29, 2026), the first book in a new Camp Half-Blood series.

All 20 Percy Jackson books in order

This is publication order. Disney Hyperion publishes every book here except The Wild Zone, which comes from Random House Books for Young Readers.

20The Wild Zone2026Camp Half-Blood 1

Next up is The Rite of Aphrodite, Camp Half-Blood book 2, on March 30, 2027.

A quick naming note: “Camp Half-Blood Chronicles” is the umbrella name for this whole world of Greek and Roman demigods. Camp Half-Blood, without “Chronicles,” is the new four-book series that started in 2026.

What order should you read the Percy Jackson books in?

For a first read, we’d stick close to publication order. The only tweak is reading Percy’s two senior-year books before the two Nico books.

  1. Percy Jackson and the Olympians 1 to 5. This is the complete original story. If you want the short stories in The Demigod Files, read them between books 4 and 5, which is when they came out.
  2. The Heroes of Olympus 1 to 5. New heroes, a second camp and Percy’s next big war.
  3. The Trials of Apollo 1 to 5. Apollo, stuck as a mortal teenager, narrates.
  4. The Chalice of the Gods and Wrath of the Triple Goddess. Smaller, lower-stakes quests from Percy’s senior year.
  5. The Sun and the Star and The Court of the Dead. Nico’s story picks up after events in The Trials of Apollo, so reading these first spoils a big moment.
  6. The Wild Zone, any time. Riordan says you can start with it “not having read anything by me before, and it will make sense.”

Coming from the Disney+ show? Seasons 1 and 2 cover books 1 and 2, so you could start at The Titan’s Curse. We’d still read the first two, since the show changes some details.

Percy Jackson books in chronological order

Story order moves two groups of books. The new Camp Half-Blood series is set in the autumn between books 1 and 2, and Percy’s senior-year books are set after The Heroes of Olympus.

  1. The Lightning Thief
  2. The Wild Zone (and the rest of the Camp Half-Blood series)
  3. The Sea of Monsters, The Titan’s Curse, The Battle of the Labyrinth, The Last Olympian
  4. The Heroes of Olympus, books 1 to 5
  5. The Chalice of the Gods and Wrath of the Triple Goddess
  6. The Trials of Apollo, books 1 to 5
  7. The Sun and the Star and The Court of the Dead

Fan timelines usually put the senior-year books before The Trials of Apollo, though they came out later. They’re standalone side quests, so either spot works. We’d save story order for a reread.

Percy Jackson and the Olympians: all 7 books

Percy narrates every book in this series. The first five tell one complete story about the war with the Titan lord Kronos.

  • The Lightning Thief (2005): Twelve-year-old Percy has to cross the country to find Zeus’s stolen master bolt.
  • The Sea of Monsters (2006): Camp Half-Blood’s borders are failing, and the only fix is in the Sea of Monsters.
  • The Titan’s Curse (2007): A rescue of two new demigods goes wrong, and Annabeth disappears. It’s Season 3 of the show.
  • The Battle of the Labyrinth (2008): Kronos’s army is getting ready to invade camp, and the quest leads underground into the Labyrinth.
  • The Last Olympian (2009): The war with the Titans reaches New York.
  • The Chalice of the Gods (2023): Percy needs three letters of recommendation from the gods for college. Quest one is a missing goblet.
  • Wrath of the Triple Goddess (2024): Letter two means pet-sitting for the goddess Hecate over Halloween week.

One more Percy book is coming. Riordan is revising the third senior-year book, and his “best guess is late 2027.” He says it will most likely be the last Percy Jackson book.

The Heroes of Olympus: all 5 books

The sequel series brings in new leads, starting with Jason, Piper and Leo, and a second camp for Roman demigods, Camp Jupiter in San Francisco. Percy is back from book 2.

  1. The Lost Hero (2010)
  2. The Son of Neptune (2011)
  3. The Mark of Athena (2012)
  4. The House of Hades (2013)
  5. The Blood of Olympus (2014)

Expect longer books here. Disney lists The Mark of Athena at 608 pages, against 400 for The Last Olympian.

The Trials of Apollo: all 5 books

Zeus turns his son Apollo into a mortal teenager named Lester Papadopoulos. To get his godhood back, he has to restore Oracles that have gone dark. Apollo narrates, and characters from both earlier series show up.

  1. The Hidden Oracle (2016)
  2. The Dark Prophecy (2017)
  3. The Burning Maze (2018)
  4. The Tyrant’s Tomb (2019)
  5. The Tower of Nero (2020)

The newest books: Nico di Angelo and Camp Half-Blood

Riordan co-writes his newest books, and they move the spotlight off Percy.

  • The Sun and the Star (May 2, 2023) and The Court of the Dead (September 23, 2025), both with Mark Oshiro. Nico di Angelo and his boyfriend Will Solace go into Tartarus to help an old friend, then join Nico’s half-sister Hazel Levesque at Camp Jupiter.
  • The Wild Zone (September 29, 2026), with Annabelle Oh. It’s book 1 of Camp Half-Blood, narrated by Katie Kim, a daughter of Ares. New campers sneak into a forbidden part of camp, and then campers start to vanish.

Camp Half-Blood runs four books, each with a different co-writer and narrator. Riordan says all four are finished and will come out six months apart.

Percy Jackson companion books: which ones to read

None of these are required. The two Demigod books collect short stories; the rest are myth retellings, guides and a crossover collection.

Greek Gods and Greek Heroes are Percy retelling the real myths in his own voice, so they don’t touch the plot. All five original books also have graphic novel versions, released from 2010 to 2019.

Where do the Kane Chronicles and Magnus Chase fit?

They’re separate series set in the same world. You don’t need either one to follow Percy, but both cross over with him.

  • The Kane Chronicles (2010 to 2012): The Red Pyramid, The Throne of Fire and The Serpent’s Shadow. Siblings Carter and Sadie Kane get tangled up with the Egyptian gods. Percy and Annabeth meet them in three crossover stories, collected in Demigods & Magicians.
  • Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard (2015 to 2017): The Sword of Summer, The Hammer of Thor and The Ship of the Dead. Norse gods in Boston. Magnus is Annabeth’s cousin, and Percy shows up in the first chapter of The Ship of the Dead.

Read either one once you’ve finished the original five Percy books. Daughter of the Deep (2021) is a standalone ocean adventure, not part of Percy’s world.

Which Percy Jackson books does the Disney+ show adapt?

One season per book, so far. Season 3 adapts The Titan’s Curse and starts on November 20, 2026.

SeasonBookOn Disney+
1The Lightning ThiefDec 2023 to Jan 2024
2The Sea of MonstersDec 10, 2025 to Jan 21, 2026
3The Titan’s CurseNov 20 to Dec 11, 2026

Season 3 has eight episodes. Disney+ is releasing two on November 20 and two more each week until the finale on December 11, on Disney+ and Hulu. Our Percy Jackson Season 3 guide has the cast and story.

Disney+ hasn’t announced a Season 4. If the show keeps going book by book, it would be The Battle of the Labyrinth. The 2010 and 2013 movies are a separate adaptation of books 1 and 2.

Is there going to be another Percy Jackson book?

Yes, three are on the way:

  • The Rite of Aphrodite, March 30, 2027. Camp Half-Blood book 2, with Kyle Lukoff. Harper Rush, a son of Aphrodite, narrates.
  • Camp Half-Blood books 3 and 4. Co-written with Jade Adia and Pablo Cartaya. No titles or dates yet.
  • The third Percy senior-year book. No title or date yet. Riordan’s best guess is late 2027, and he says he has “no plans to return to Percy’s POV after this.”

Disney+ has an option on Camp Half-Blood as a possible TV show. As of October 2026, Riordan said that idea was still only being discussed.

What age are the Percy Jackson books for?

Disney’s listings put most of the books at ages 9 to 12. The Nico di Angelo books and The Wild Zone are listed at 10 to 14. Riordan calls himself a middle-grade writer, and the books read that way: funny and fast, with plenty of monster fights.
