*The three RGB Rare Mews come in 30th Celebration booster packs but sit outside the numbered card list, and The Pokémon Company hasn’t published their odds. The most valuable card on the regular list is the Classic Collection Charizard at $146.46.
**Delta Reign went on sale November 6, 2026, so its prices rest on only a few sales. The gold Mega Rayquaza ex (141/103) had no market price yet, and its cheapest listing was $400.
Each top card is the set’s most expensive version on TCGplayer: either the full-art Special Illustration Rare (SIR) or the gold Mega Hyper Rare. Among the five older main sets, the top card is an SIR in three (Phantasmal Flames, Perfect Order and Pitch Black) and a gold card in two (Mega Evolution and Chaos Rising).

Which Mega Evolution set is worth the most?
It depends on what you measure. Phantasmal Flames has the most expensive booster box, Ascended Heroes has the most valuable cards overall, and 30th Celebration has the single priciest card.
- Most expensive box: Phantasmal Flames, at $386.58. Its Mega Charizard X ex SIR sells for $570.29.
- Most valuable cards overall: Ascended Heroes. Its 10 priciest cards add up to $2,687.33, and 7 of its cards sell for $100 or more, more than any other set in the era.
- Priciest single card: 30th Celebration’s three RGB Rare Mews, at $3,164.40 to $4,492.45. Without them, the set’s top 10 adds up to $678.86.
| Set | Top 10 cards combined | Cards at $100+ |
|---|---|---|
| Ascended Heroes | $2,687.33 | 7 |
| Mega Evolution | $1,007.69 | 5 |
| Phantasmal Flames | $860.37 | 2 |
| Delta Reign (at release) | $700.16 | 1 |
| 30th Celebration (without RGB Mews) | $678.86 | 2 |
| Pitch Black | $436.78 | 2 |
| Perfect Order | $361.40 | 0 |
| Chaos Rising | $346.34 | 2 |
“Top 10 cards combined” adds up the TCGplayer market prices of each set’s 10 most expensive cards on November 6, 2026. It shows how much there is to chase in a set, not what a pack is worth. For 30th Celebration it includes the 30 Classic Collection reprints that come in its packs; with the three RGB Mews, its top 10 adds up to $12,487.11.
The first Mega Evolution set is still the deepest of the main sets, with five cards over $100. The three 2026 main sets are the cheapest to collect: their top cards sell for $84.27 to $132.64. For every high-value card in the era, see the 15 most expensive Mega Evolution cards.

Which Mega Evolution booster box should I buy?
If you want to open a box, the three 2026 main sets cost the least: Perfect Order ($172.30), Pitch Black ($175.23) and Chaos Rising ($181.93). Each is within 13% of the $161.64 MSRP for 36 packs, or about $5 a pack. If you want one specific card, buying the single usually costs less than opening for it, and no box is a sure bet to rise in value.

| Booster box | Price | Per pack | Over MSRP |
|---|---|---|---|
| Phantasmal Flames | $386.58 | $10.74 | +139% |
| Mega Evolution | $300.09 | $8.34 | +86% |
| Delta Reign | $222.95 | $6.19 | +38% |
| Chaos Rising | $181.93 | $5.05 | +13% |
| Pitch Black | $175.23 | $4.87 | +8% |
| Perfect Order | $172.30 | $4.79 | +7% |
MSRP is $161.64 for a 36-pack box ($4.49 a pack), from distributor listings. Prices are TCGplayer market prices, checked November 6, 2026.
Phantasmal Flames costs 2.4 times its MSRP because of Mega Charizard X. If that Charizard is the card you want, the $570.29 single is a known price, while a $386.58 box comes with no guarantee of pulling it.
Recent boxes have been cheaper after release week than during it. Compared with release-week prices in our 2026 booster box price tracker, Pitch Black is down 13% ($202.16 to $175.23), Perfect Order 17% ($206.36 to $172.30) and Chaos Rising 28% ($251.15 to $181.93). Delta Reign’s box was $222.95 at its November 6, 2026 release. Past prices don’t decide future ones, but there’s no reason to rush.
Ascended Heroes and 30th Celebration have no booster box. Their Elite Trainer Boxes sell for $121.14 and $111.50, more than twice the $49.99 MSRP, and their Booster Bundles for $73.91 and $69.27. Keep in mind that 30th Celebration packs hold only 5 cards. Our 30th Celebration buying guide covers its other products.

How many cards are in each Mega Evolution set?
The 8 sets have 1,281 cards combined, counting secret rares. Ascended Heroes is the biggest at 295 cards, and Pitch Black is the smallest at 120.
| Set | Main set | With secret rares |
|---|---|---|
| Mega Evolution | 132 | 188 |
| Phantasmal Flames | 94 | 130 |
| Ascended Heroes | 217 | 295 |
| Perfect Order | 88 | 124 |
| Chaos Rising | 86 | 122 |
| Pitch Black | 84 | 120 |
| 30th Celebration | 128 | 161* |
| Delta Reign | 103 | 141 |
*30th Celebration has 158 numbered cards plus the 3 RGB Mews. Its packs can also hold 30 Classic Collection reprints, which aren’t counted here.
Every main set from Phantasmal Flames to Pitch Black has exactly 36 secret rares. Delta Reign has 38, and the first Mega Evolution set has 56. The Pokémon Company only gives rounded sizes, like “over 180 cards” for Mega Evolution and “over 135” for Delta Reign, so these counts come from each set’s card numbering on TCGplayer. Every Delta Reign card and price is in our Delta Reign card list.
What’s the next Pokémon set after Delta Reign?
The Pokémon Company hasn’t announced the next English expansion as of November 6, 2026. Its official product schedule ends with Delta Reign.
Two boxed products are confirmed for early 2027:
- Valentine’s Box, January 15, 2027, $14.99: 20 three-card Collect & Share booster packs, To/From labels, a mailbox to decorate and stickers.
- Mega Rayquaza ex Premium Tournament Collection, February 12, 2027, $49.99: 8 booster packs, a foil Mega Rayquaza ex promo plus 3 more foil promos, a two-card Legendary Summit Stadium, and Dragon Shield sleeves and a Dragon Shield card box.
In Japan, the next set is Aura Seeker on November 27, 2026, led by Mega Lucario Z ex. Fan sites list an English set called Flowing Fists for February 2027, but The Pokémon Company hasn’t confirmed it, so treat that as a rumor.
The 8 English releases came 7 to 11 weeks apart, and six of the seven gaps were 7 to 9 weeks. We’ll add the next set to the table as soon as it’s announced.
