Winter and spring: Narnia, Sonic and Zelda

Children of Blood and Bone (January 15) adapts Tomi Adeyemi’s bestselling fantasy novel, and Ice Age: Boiling Point (February 5) is the sixth Ice Age movie. The first must-see is Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew on February 12: Greta Gerwig’s origin story for Narnia, with Emma Mackey as Jadis, Daniel Craig as Uncle Andrew and Meryl Streep voicing Aslan. It’s Netflix’s first global theatrical release, and it streams on Netflix from April 2. Our Narnia guide has the cast and trailer.

March brings Sonic the Hedgehog 4 (March 19), following 2024’s Sonic 3, and Godzilla x Kong: Supernova (March 26), the third movie to team up the two titans. Spaceballs: The New One (April 23) is the sequel to Mel Brooks’ 1987 Star Wars parody. A week later, The Legend of Zelda (April 30) is Nintendo’s first live-action movie: Wes Ball directs, with Bo Bragg as Zelda and Benjamin Evan Ainsworth as Link.

Summer: Star Wars, Spider-Verse, Shrek and Superman

Summer 2027 is packed. Star Wars: Starfighter (May 28) is Shawn Levy’s new story with Ryan Gosling, set after The Rise of Skywalker. How to Train Your Dragon 2 (June 11) continues the live-action remakes that began in 2025. Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse (June 18) finishes the Miles Morales trilogy that started with Into the Spider-Verse in 2018.

Shrek 5 (June 30) brings back Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy and Cameron Diaz, with Zendaya joining as Shrek’s daughter. Man of Tomorrow (July 9) is James Gunn’s follow-up to 2025’s Superman, with David Corenswet back in the cape and Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor. A Minecraft Movie Squared (July 23) is the sequel to 2025’s surprise smash, and The Bluey Movie (August 6) is the first Bluey feature.

Fall and the December 17 showdown

The New Simpsons Movie (September 3) is the first Simpsons film since 2007, and Frozen III takes Thanksgiving week on November 24.

Then comes the biggest day of the year. Avengers: Secret Wars closes out Marvel’s Multiverse Saga exactly one year after Avengers: Doomsday. On the same day, The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum brings Middle-earth back to theaters, with Andy Serkis directing and playing Gollum again. If both dates hold, December 17, 2027 is the geekiest weekend in years. Middle-earth fans who can’t wait can dig into MTG’s The Hobbit set in the meantime.
